This ticked me off so much. Jon Avila, if you are going to be an asshole, try your best not to show it off.
Okay, fine. So the woman who originally tweeted him took a shot at the “I am gay” tweet (which Jon Avila vehemently denied was his, as he was “hacked”) and that’s problematic. But was it fair—nay, was it right—for him to respond “fuck off” to that woman and be so unapologetic about it? Just because he was attacked doesn’t mean he has to defend himself in an equally offensive way. This is all perpetuating a culture of impunity.
This B-lister needs to be called out for his behavior. I’ve had it enough with these celebrities acting like they’re untouchable and should be give a free pass for reinforcing the crap of society. And please, do not give me that excuse that just because he didn’t grow up in the Philippines, we should be more “understanding” of his attitude. This is bullshit. Jon Avila, by doing that, has shown everyone how full of bullshit he is.
